One minute, clicks per minute

On a 60-second test there is nothing to convert: the number of clicks is your clicks per minute. Divide it by 60 and you have your CPS. A minute is long enough that technique and pacing matter more than raw finger speed.

What the chart tells you

The result has sixty bars, one per second. Most runs show a high start, a drop in the first 10 to 20 seconds and then a lower, steadier plateau. If yours keeps falling to the end, start slower next time. If it is flat, you paced it well and can try a slightly faster start.

Tips for a full minute

  1. Sit so your forearm is supported. Resting the arm on the desk takes load off the shoulder.
  2. Use one technique. Switching between normal and jitter clicking mid-run usually costs clicks.
  3. Take a break between runs. Two or three minutes of rest gives a fairer next result than going again straight away.

60 Second CPS Test: questions

How many clicks in a minute is good?

As a rough guide, 300 to 420 clicks (5 to 7 CPS) for a full minute of normal clicking is a solid result. Speeds drop over a minute, so it is lower than most short-test scores.

What is CPM?

Clicks per minute. On this 60-second test it is simply your total clicks; on other lengths it is CPS × 60.

Is the one-minute test bad for my hand?

Not if you stop when it hurts and rest between runs. All-out clicking for a minute is tiring, so do not repeat it over and over.
